History of Laguna Vista
Built on a proud history beginning in the 1500s when the Coahilitecan Indians inhabited the land, to the 1800s when Mexican salt traders explored the shores of the Laguna Madre ("Mother Bay") to find calm waters full of fish, to today's thriving coastal community, Laguna Vista is no longer one of South Texas' best-kept secrets. In 1928, the Point Isabel Land Company purchased much of the area and established local hunting and fishing camps. Laguna Vista was incorporated in 1958, resulting in steady population growth over the past 50 years. Today, the town has over 5000 residents.
